Built in the 1880’s and dedicated in 1886 the arch honors the 4,000 Hartford residents who fought in the Civil War and is located next to Bushnell Park in downtown Hartford. The Gothic monument is made of brownstone from Portland, Connecticut, and cost about $60,000, that came from the city treasury, to build.
The arch sits in stark contrast to the more modern aspects of the Hartford skyline.
