Harriet Beecher Stowe House

Connecticut native Harriet Beecher Stowe is the author of many books including the anti-slavery novel “Uncle Tom’s Cabin”.  The inmpact of the book was summed up by none other then President Lincoln when upon meeting Stowe was said to proclaim “So you’re the little woman who wrote the book that made this great war!”.

She lived for many years in Hartford on Farmington Avenue as the neighbor of Mark Twain.  Now there is a Harriet Beecher Stowe Center located ont he property in which she lived.
