Canal Rescue

Windsor Locks firefighter David Montemerlo Jr (right) and Poquonock Fire Lt Jim Griskewicz prepare to place an unidentified man into a stokes basket so that he can be transferred to the shore.  Fire and EMS crews from Suffield, Windsor Locks and Windsor worked to remove from him the canal area along Rt159 on July 1, 2004.  Apparently the man was walking on along the canal in Suffield when he fell into the water.  Suffield Fire was able to remove him from the water to Windsor Fire’s hovercraft and he was then transported to the Montgomery Building where he was removed from the hovercraft and taken to a local hospital.
