Championship Parade

This originally was published on August 25, 2008.  It is basketball week on the blog.

In April of 2004 UConn became the first school to have it’s men’s and women’s basketball teams win NCAA championships in the same season.  The men beat Georgia Tech on a Monday night and the next night the women whipped Tennessee.  For the men it was their second NCAA title having also won in 1999.  For the women it was their fifth National championship and third in a row as they had brought titles to Storrs in 1995, 2000, 2002 and 2003.
