1966 American LaFrance Engine

This is a 1966 American LaFrance, ALF, fire engine that was bought and restored by the Villages FL Fire Department for use at public safety and fire prevention talks.

The department was basically forced to buy an antique for these duties because their insurance company will not allow them to use their first line apparatus for fire prevention activities. That prevented them from allowing the kids to squirt water or cliimb on the truck and it led to them buying the ALF.

It’s really beautiful they did a great job restoring it and you will notice the pump panel is on the right hand (officers) side of the vehicle.  One of the theories behind this is so that the pump operator was not out in traffic and was safer in operating at a fire.
