Rentschler Field – Home of the UConn Huskies

This was originally published on August 22, 2008 and has been modified for 2013.

We are on the verge of yet another exciting college football season.  And last night the UConn Huskies opened up against Towson State.  It was the 10th home opener at Rentschler Field which opened in 2003 and their first as a member of the newly formed American Athletic Conference.  For all your UConn football news visit Sox & Dawgs.

In 2003 UConn moved into their brand new digs in East Hartford CT at Rentschler Field after playing for many years on campus at the old Memorial Stadium.   The Rent as it has become known sits 40,000 screaming UConn fans and when they’re into it the place can get pretty loud.  This is an exterior shot of the stadium on the Pratt & Whitney Aircraft grounds at the old test flight runway.

These are interior shots of The Rent prior to a game before the fans were even allowed into the facility.  These were taken on September 10, 2005 before they went on to beat Liberty University.  The exterior shot is from August 2008.

Thanks for another week, we’ll see you Monday with more!  And don’t forget comments on this post or any other here at Depth of Field are not only allowed but encouraged.  Thanks for looking!
